The last PMQs of this Parliamentary session, and I had a question. An early morning run before that, into the office and steady progress through a mass of routine matters. I met my cousin, who I have not seen for many years, and took him up to the Gallery to watch PMQs. Mrs May held her own well against a Mr Corbyn who appears to have at last twigged that Labour actually lost the election. My question was about a new initiative to help veterans and serving soldiers deal with mental health issues, which can and do emerge after operations. My friend and colleague Johnny Mercer, himself a Afghanistan veteran, has done much to promote and push for better care of those affected mentally by war and I asked the PM's office if either she or I would pay tribute to him. Mrs May did in the end and she answered my question generously and helpfully. I had an enjoyable lunch with my cousin, before returning to my office to draft my weekly column and keep working for my Adjournment debate on the NHS tomorrow night. We were all on a one-line Whip so I headed home at about 1900.
