Another day of rumours, meetings, plans and counter-plans. Order, counter-order, disorder, as we used to say in the army. Many MPs appeared to have forgotten the EU referendum completely, choosing to ignore the democratic will of the people, and, instead wishing to stamp their own interpretation on what Brexit means. The most common form of this false logic is found in MPs on our side who claim to have supported the Government. Yes, they have, because a Remain-orientated Government has done its level best to stop Brexit. Remember, we were leaving the EU this Friday! And this so called deal - Treaty, actually - is a sell-out. I cannot think of any country that would willingly hand over its law-making powers to a foreign power, unless of course if had been defeated in war and had no option. That is what this deal is all about and could potentially affect us for many years. Now, MPs like me who have battled so hard to deliver on the referendum result, are having their heads placed in a vice by our own Prime Minister. My deal or no Brexit. You could not make it up. Meanwhile, Remainers continue to hide behind one fig-leaf or another, but I do not think for one minute that the electorate or their constituents are fooled. Rumours also abound that Mrs May is going to go, in exchange for getting her deal through. I'll believe that when I see it. A short DL at 1430 kept me out of further mischief, followed by two private meetings with colleagues, the last of which did not really start until 1900 due to several votes. It is a tragedy for our country that, instead of welcoming in a new and exciting era outside the EU, we are wrapped up in damaging and politically-motivated naval-gazing inside the Westminster bubble. Where is Mrs T when we need her?
