Back to the Commons for a further round of hustings as the remaining leadership contenders battle it out. Today I had the pleasurable task of taking part in a scheme called VETS CV & Interview Skills Workshop. It's a joint venture between the business and charity sectors and the MOD to improve job opportunities for veterans. I was asked to run a test interview for one of the veterans and I was fortunate enough to meet Commander Anthony Richards, a logistician with the Royal Navy. My task was to put him through his paces with some typical questions that he might face from a prospective employer. Anthony could not have been more highly qualified or more able and I am sure he will find a job in the world of finance without too much difficulty. We chatted through his CV, which like many Service ones, was a little too full of jargon and failed to explain the huge responsibilities he has had in his 21 year career. Afterwards, Anthony went back downstairs for a general mop up with the organisers. I spent an interesting hour with the Conservative candidate for the role of Dorset's Police & Crime Commissioner, David Sidwick. He's an impressive candidate and has done a lot of preparatory work across the county. Then off to the hustings, which was going on behind closed doors, so I shall not expand on how this went. All the candidates have great intellect and ability, so we shall have to wait and see how they do this week.
