A busy day. Began early presenting a thank you to two members of my home team who have worked here for a staggering 40 years. Then onto to Westfield School in Weymouth, run by the superb head, Andrew Penman. Today I met his deputy, Karen Bidwell, who was hosting a question and answer session with the school's council. The children were sweet and right on the ball, asking a range of pertinent questions for about an hour. I then had time to see Andrew, who really is a class act. He told me the sad news that he's retiring next year. His shoes will be hard to fill. Then straight onto Beechcroft School for a similar grilling by Year 5, who again were right on the ball. Questions ranged from the public pay cap to my life as an MP. The Head of Year Michelle Mead had organised this session and it was most enjoyable. At the end, there was a request for my autograph, not something that I am normally asked for, I have to say. I was happy to oblige. Finally, it was off to my surgery at the council offices. These cases are private and I do all I can to help.
