Spent the morning in the office waiting for a call from Richard Sutherland, Gaia's Father. He called and we agreed to meet at Durlston Country Park car park at midday. I arrived to find hundreds of volunteers being briefed by the police and Richard. Some had come from a long way away and it was touching to see the concern and the willingness to help. While they all went off, I remained with Richard, co-ordinating inquiries with the police, who were most helpful and accommodating. At about 1430 teh police kindly invited me to join the official search team. I drove to Wareham to meet Inspector Keel, who was due to take me out. However, the sad news had come through that a body had been found at Dancing Ledge, near to the spot volunteer searchers had found some discarded clothes. This was terrible news and my heart ached for the family. I can only imagine the horror of all this and after all they've been through these past 11 days. I drove back to Swanage in case the family needed me and was just parking up when Richard called. After a brief conversation, I left him to organise a family meeting. It was time to head home. A sad, sad day and one that has ended in tragedy.
