First stop this morning was Weymouth. I was there to meet Claudia Webb, who is now running Weymouth Bid. She is doing an outstanding job and rightly reviewing what has gone before. She has many sound ideas and I support her completely. Also at the meeting was the new towncentre manager Ed Warr. What a charming man, and he, too, has many good ideas as to how to take the town forward. We had a good chat and after about an hour I headed to the Lobster Pot at Portland Bill to lunch with two of our councillors. Both have recently won their wards at two by-elections and we had an interesting and fun lunch, chatting through a mass of Portland issues. On the way to Ridge, I stopped off to see a former soldier whose house is being refurbished to accommodate his disability. To be frank, I found a shambles and quickly moved to secure a more organised approach. After several phone calls to rattle cages, we began to get some helpful feedback. I left to meet my next appointment in the knowledge that more would be learnt at a site meeting on Friday morning. Then it was off to Ridge to meet Peter Sibthorpe and his colleagues who are concerned at a RSPB project, which they fear will cause flooding to homes nearby. I, too, am concerned at the RSPB proposal, which will see a long bund erected across what is a flood plain. For all kinds of reasons, I find this a little odd. Anyway, I spent about 90 minutes with Peter and other homeowners before heading home.
