A busy day dealing with a mass of constituency matters. Two conference calls with the police and CCG updated us on their matters. Good news on the virus in that there have been no outbreaks in Dorset in the past seven days. And the south west remains one of the least affected areas in the UK. However, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps announced that wearing face coverings would be compulsory on public transport in England from 15 June. Mr Shapps added that "every precaution" must be taken as passenger numbers were expected to increase when lock-down measures were eased further. Coverings must be worn on buses, trams, trains, coaches, aircraft and ferries. Very young children, disabled people and those with breathing difficulties would be exempt, he said. In the US, a service to commemorate George Floyd was held in Minneapolis, the city where he died at the hands of police. Three ex-officers charged with abetting Floyd's death have appeared in court. The case is appalling and I sincerely hope justice is done. And in further news regarding Madeleine McCann, who is "assumed" to be dead, a 43-year-old German man is being investigated on suspicion of murder. The suspect, who has been named in German media as Christian B, is currently serving a prison sentence.
