A early morning trot in the park and into the Commons. PMQs was a damp squib, with no one mentioning the elephant in the room: the lack of Brexit. While the Chamber hosted a debate on climate change, I attended my weekly European Scrutiny Committee, which was in private, before moving to CR9 for some delegated legislation on student fees. Back to the office to 1700 and then headed to Dorset. While driving, I heard that Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson had been sacked by Mrs May for allegedly leaking information discussed in a meeting of the NSC. I say allegedly as he vehemently denies being the source. Penny Mordaunt is promoted to take his place. With local elections tomorrow, the timing is a little odd! I don't suppose Mr Williamson will go quietly, especially if he is innocent. What a state of affairs!
