An early morning run and into the Commons. Foreign Office Questions was followed by another eight hours of debate on the EU (Withdrawal) Bill. Today MPs were looking at what rights should be incorporated into UK law, if any. Many of the MPs in the Chamber had a legal background and debate ranged around citizen's rights. While the Remainers argued we should adopt all EU laws, the Government said that was not necessary as we were leaving, a point that some of my colleagues clearly fail to even recognise judging from their contributions. It's also worth noting that we already have our own, more-than-adequate human right laws. After listening for an hour, I returned to my office to work through a full, constituency in-tray. Just before 9pm we had several votes, all of which the Government won.
