A deal is done! Boris has done it, the papers cried. We learnt a little more about this significant step forward when Leader of the House Jacob Rees-Mogg waved a copy of the deal at the Despatch Box. That got Opposition MPs going! Leaving the Chamber in a lather, I headed to Iain Duncan Smith's office, where a number of friends and colleagues has gathered to discuss the latest news. That meeting was in confidence. With briefings going on all over the Palace, I spoke to many colleagues, including members of the DUP, who were not happy. They see the new arrangement for Northern Ireland as a sell-out. The exact detail of this is still not clear at the time of writing. At 1630 I had a private meeting with colleagues, before hopping on my motorcycle and battling my way home through wind and rain. Armed with the Deal and other bits of paper, I have a long read ahead of me tomorrow! With regard to what is going on in northern Syria, it seems a ceasefire has been brokered by the Americans. Let's hope it holds. We will now be sitting on Saturday for another meaningful vote on the PM's deal. It'll be tight, not least because the DUP have said they will not back it!
