A stint in the office first thing and then on to my motorcycle and across to see Roy and Noma Hooper at their cosy cottage near Wareham. Tragedy struck this lovely couple when their thatched roof caught fire, burning their house to the ground. Any of us can imagine the trauma of losing all your valuables, especially irreplaceable and special objects. The good news is that the insurance company did its work and the cottage is now rebuilt and the couple are simply delighted. I joined my caseworker Hennie Weld, who had done so much on my behalf, at the cottage and presented a wee bottle of champagne to the couple as a welcome home present. Sadly Roy was being checked up by the doctor so we did not see him. Then down to Swanage for my regular surgery. Afterwards, Hennie and I grabbed a welcome sandwich at the Con Club, which is always a delight to be in. Afterwards, back up to Harmans Cross to meet the delightful Dr Andrew Langley, who did so much to help defeat the wind farm off Swanage. We chatted about planning and what a mess it was. I can honestly say that I do believe the way it all works, or doesn't, needs to be reviewed. I shall be pressing for this when we return to the Commons.
