Off to Dorchester on my motorcycle to meet Cllr Rebecca Knox. I had a private meeting with her to discuss several issues, one being plans for a controversial new centre for those recovering from drug and alcohol addictions. The problem is that the location is in a residential area and sited next to an existing B&B. I do understand the concerns of residents and Rebecca and I discussed what if anything could be done to resolve the issue. Then it was off to Kingston Maurward to meet the new Principal, Luke Rake. What a charming man and extremely well qualified for the role. Young and full of ideas, he is exactly what the College needs. It has an excellent record and I am very confident that this will only improve under Luke's capable hands. Down to Weymouth next to meet up with Mike Graham, who runs the Lantern Trust, a remarkable charity that caters for those dealing with a range of issues. The problem, as with all charities, is funding, and we discussed how they could raise more money, not least through the Lottery.
