Trying to help a pub in my constituency that doesn't quite meet the criteria for a government grant. The grant is accessible dependent on how much you pay in business rates. This pub is above the threshold, which is very frustrating. Their only option now is to go back to the Valuation Office and try and get their rates revalued. Dorset is expecting another invasion this Bank Holiday weekend, but the weather is not that promising so perhaps that will dissuade many from coming. This has been a recurring problem throughout the summer, especially at beauty spots, such as Durdle Door, and residents are understandably concerned at the level of traffic and congestion and, of course, by the actions of some who appear not to care how they treat the countryside. Over in the US, Donald Trump was nominated as the Republican candidate for November's Presidential elections. Out of the two contestants, Mr Trump is best for us without a doubt, not least because of a trade deal that is currently being worked on. Biden is a drip and lacks any leadership qualities, making the mistake during their recent convention of attempting to portray himself as 'Mr Nice Guy'. Leadership is not about being nice, but about being respected. Of course, you can be nice, but earning people's respect is paramount. Anti-racism protests continued following the shooting of another black man by the police. Unfortunately, if you arm the police, they are far more likely to use guns, which is why I still believe our police force must not carry them. Yes, specially trained officers need them, of course, but it'll be a sad day if all officers end up carrying guns. Meanwhile, the PM is to launch a back-to-work campaign next week, which is much needed. That unhelpful and embittered First Minister in Scotland cannot resist interfering by saying employees should not be intimidated. No one is planning to do that, but it's time for most people to get back to work and re-ignite our battered economy. You might recall the appalling case of the 38 Vietnamese migrants who died in the back of a lorry. Well, the driver, from County Monaghan in the Republic of Ireland, has admitted manslaughter.
