Final day before we know who the final two are in the race for the top job in politics. Spent the first part of the morning on constituency business and then once again entered CR 14 to vote for Boris Johnson. At 1300 we learnt who had fallen out of the race. The result of the first of two ballots today was: Sajid Javid, 34; Jeremy Hunt, 59, Boris Johnson, 157; and Michael Gove, 61. Two ballot papers were spoilt. Cannot possible think who one of those is! This meant that Sajid was out and the other three had to wait to 1800. The next ballot was upon us very quickly and again we all piled into the now all too familiar CR 14. At just after 1800, the final announcement was made. Michael Gove, 75; Boris Johnson, 160; and Jeremy Hunt, 77. So Jeremy squeaks in by two and Michael falls out. Must have been an interesting few days for both men, but now we know the final two who will begin touring the country shortly. The race so far has proved that we have some very able people in our Party and congratulations to all those who put their heads above the parapet. I am personally delighted that Boris has made it and it is now up to him to explain to Association Members what his vision for our country is. What a day!
