Followed up on several pandemic-related issues that are affecting constituents. Some are truly heart-breaking, like the husband who was not allowed to hold his wife's hand before she died due to the care home's rules. While I am sure the care home was doing what it thought was right, the effect of the fear factor that we've been bombarded with for months appears to have knocked common sense over the boundary and out of the ground. A large part of the day was spent drafting my speech for tomorrow's debate on the proposed new tiers. I voted against last time, and will do so again. Dorset will be placed in a punitive tier two, having gone into the lock-down in tier one! These are difficult times for us all and no doubt many of my colleagues will be torn as to which way to vote. However, we are sent to the House to make tough decision sometimes and this is a case in point. Out into the night for a run in the evening to clear the head.
