Diary - arts to receive a rescue package

A blustery day ended with the news the arts have been waiting for - a £1.57 billion rescue package. They have lobbied hard and clearly successfully to safeguard jobs and venues, some of them of national significance. The 72nd anniversary of the NHS was recognised with a nationwide round of applause to the wonderful medical teams that have worked on through this pandemic at great risk to themselves. The pandemic has put the spotlight back on adult social care, which needs to be reformed. The government has said it intends to bring forward a long-term plan. And, with fears of rising unemployment, more than 13,000 extra staff are to be drafted into job centres in Britain.
