Two interesting articles caught my attention today. One was in the Daily Mail, which reported that the head of the European Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso, was claiming that the euro was out of danger. The second was an excellent piece on Conservative Home by my colleague John Baron MP, who has recently returned from visiting a number of European capitals with the Foreign Affairs' Committee. He warns that the move to closer political and fiscal union in the EU is now being hailed as the only way of saving the euro. He also says that "the British Government's stated aim of repatriating powers will be fiercely resisted." And that "the Swiss are fighting a rearguard action to preserve the integrity of their bilateral agreements." So, the Federalists appear to be having their way, although this corrupt sytem will collapse in the end. What is so tragic is that it will now cost billions of euros and countless millions of jobs because the longer we put off shooting this EU nightmare in the head the worse the problem will become.
