The behaviour over the weekend by several individuals travelling down to Dorset to spend time in our beautiful county was most concerning.
The official Government advice is to stay at home, in your primary residence, to avoid spreading coronavirus. In Dorset we have limited resources, and I for one want to make sure that our local hospitals and GPs do not have any more added pressure than is absolutely necessary.
Last night, the Government offered official guidance for all individuals to avoid travelling to second homes and holiday destinations.
I hope that individuals follow this advice. I do not want to see the country go into official lockdown, but I am aware the Prime Minister might have to consider this course of action in the coming days and weeks if this type of reckless behaviour continues. I will also be following up my concerns with the relevant Minister, and will try to raise this matter in the House today.
