The Chancellor's new-found support for gay marriage has raised a few eyebrows in the Party and across the country. Mr Osborne claims that, like Obama, it will lead us to the promised land, securing a second term in government. I can assure Mr Osborne and Mr Cameron that it will do the very opposite and to compare our fortunes with Obama's is at best misguided. The country is crying out for leadership on the issues that really concern our constituents, not least the EU, immigration and the decimation of our Armed Services. Instead, they get a dollop of trendy liberalism that no one is calling for, not even the gay community, which now has equal rights. And of course it is the unintended consequences that Mr Osborne has clearly not considered. I'm talking about the huge task of writing this into law, not to mention redrafting the Bible! Politicians are blaming apathy for the ludicrously low turn-out in the police commissioner elections and can you blame voters for this when we repeatedly don't listen to them. You only have to look across the Channel at countries like Greece and Italy to see what happens when voters are ignored and we really must wake up in this country if we are not to sleepwalk into a disaster.
