This April is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month, and Asda is partnering with Bowel Cancer UK to ensure that more people #KnowTheHigh5 symptoms of bowel cancer.
Someone dies of bowel cancer every 30 minutes in the UK. Although bowel cancer is the second biggest cancer killer, it is a treatable and curable disease. Nearly everyone diagnosed at the earliest stages will survive. Knowing the symptoms could save a life.
That’s why Asda is working with Bowel Cancer UK to raise awareness, so that more people know the symptoms of bowel cancer. The red flag symptoms of bowel cancer are:
1. Bleeding from your bottom and/or blood in your poo.
2. A persistent and unexplained change in bowel habit.
3. Unexplained weight loss.
4. Extreme tiredness for no obvious reason.
5. A pain or lump in your tummy.
Most people with these symptoms won’t have bowel cancer, as other health problems can cause similar symptoms. But anyone experiencing one or more of these symptoms should contact their GP immediately. Further advice and support can be found on Bowel Cancer UK’s ‘Awareness Hub’.
