Up early and into the office, before mounting my motorbike and heading to Weymouth to meet those campaigning against a proposal to place a 6-pitch, residential travellers' site in part of a former MOD camp adjacent to Mandeville Road.
I met John and Margaret Watts, Mr Devey and Ms Gail Marshall. We talked through the proposal by the developer, who has already tried to get planning permission for some homes.
My colleague in the neighbouring seat of W Dorset, Oliver Letwin, has already met the developer and was not impressed. It seemed to him that they were threatening a travellers' site unless he could somehow help them get permission for residential.
Anyway, the planning process is quasi-judicial and the developer will have to submit what plans he wants to and then go through the process. Mr Letwin and I are both against a travellers' site, which would be adjacent to the homes on Mandeville Road.
Mrs Watts told me that a recent and disorganised meeting in Chickerell about the plan had not given residents much confidence. I have written to the chief executive of WDDC to see if he can bring any clarity to this affair.
Then, back on to my bike and home, a quick change into a suit, and then to London.
A good run at midday and then feet under the desk dealing with several matters, not least on tomorrow's debate on the MPs' Recall Bill, until 1930.
